People watch a lot of TV, on average 4 hours a day! Not only do we watch TV shows, but we also see dozens of commercials in between.
Commercials are a way for businesses to advertise their business or product to people who may be interested in buying.
Think about the commercials you have seen. Some of them are boring and others are fun. What makes a good commercial? Usually a commercial that is funny, cute or makes you think.
YOUR PROJECT: Make a commercial
You are going to make a commercial for your business. Most commercials last between 15-30 seconds. The longer the commercial, the more it costs. The point of a commercial is to tell your story as quickly and effectively as possible. Can you tell your story in 15 seconds? If so, then do it. If it takes longer, go for somewhere in between 15 and 30 seconds.

Before filmmakers film even a second of a movie, they first must write a storyboard. A storyboard is kind of like a comic strip, that briefly explains what's going to happen in the movie, or in our case, a commercial.
To help you make your own storyboards, you will use an Australian website: Generator, from the Australian Center for the Moving Image. This cool site allows you to make interactive storyboards that describe the setting, where the people will be located and what the camera will do as it films.

- 1 video clip (you can get this from online or film it yourself on the iPad)
- At least 1 image (you can get this from online or take a picture on the iPad)
- Text (explaining something... prices, business name, stores hours, etc)
- Audio (you can record this on the iPad and/or get music from online)
- Your commercial must be between 10 and 30 seconds long.
- Your commercial must tell some sort of story or give information to get people to want to use your business.
- You must use proper English spelling and grammar.
- Be creative!
